When your AC needs a deep clean
- 1
Musty smell when you switch on
Jeddah's high humidity creates ideal conditions for mould on the drain pan and evaporator fins. If you notice a sharp smell the moment the unit starts, the most common cause is mould built up inside the indoor unit.
- 2
Weak cooling from a working unit
A thin layer of dust on the evaporator fins reduces heat transfer noticeably. A dirty blower wheel cuts airflow without any fault in the compressor or refrigerant. Cleaning restores the unit's performance to what it was.
- 3
A unit that has not been cleaned in a long time
Jeddah's heavy dust and salt-laden sea air build up on the outdoor coil and block airflow paths. The unit runs but the compressor works harder than it should; cleaning both coils together reduces that load.

What sets this district apart
Al Hamra is an upscale residential district with large family villas and homes on spacious plots, located in coastal west Jeddah with greater exposure to humidity, salt and sea breezes. Villas here are larger and more complex, containing several AC units running continuously. High seasonal humidity and salt and sea dust effects increase mould and algae growth in coils and drains noticeably faster, and regular cleaning maintains performance and reduces corrosion.
Al Hamra sits in coastal west Jeddah, a district of large upscale villas with spacious grounds and landscaping.
Large villas here typically have three or more split units, in bedrooms, living areas, kitchens and home offices, with outdoor units mounted on walls or roofs with ease.

FAQ
Questions about AC cleaning
Will the wash water stain my furniture or ceiling?
We fix a sealed protective bag under the indoor unit before any pressure washing begins. The bag collects all the wash water and channels it away from your wall and furniture. This step is not optional in how we work.
Will the mould smell disappear completely after cleaning?
In most cases the smell goes once the evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan are washed with a sanitising agent. If the smell comes from very old build-up or a drain line problem, we diagnose the cause on site and tell you exactly what is needed.
How does Jeddah's dust and salty air affect the outdoor coil?
Heavy dust and salt carried by sea air collect between the condenser fins and block airflow. This raises condensing pressure and makes the compressor work harder than it was designed to. Cleaning the outdoor coil regularly keeps the compressor performing as it should and extends its life.
Can you clean a window unit the same way?
Yes, a window unit needs similar work: filter, evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan, plus the outdoor coil built into the same casing. The difference is in how it is opened and accessed, which the technician works out after seeing where the unit is installed.
Can cleaning fix water dripping from the indoor unit?
Dripping usually comes from a blocked drain pan or a drain line that does not slope correctly. Cleaning the pan and checking that the line has the right fall resolves the problem in many cases. If the cause is different, the technician diagnoses it on site and explains exactly what is needed.
My large villa has several units; does coastal humidity affect them all equally?
Humidity affects all units, but those directly exposed to sea air and salt corrode and build up algae faster, especially outdoor units on open roofs.
The outdoor units are on an open roof; how do you ensure team safety?
We use safe equipment and high safety standards for rooftop work, but confirm the roof is in good condition and safe before the visit, and tell us of any hazards or restrictions.
Do salt and sea winds cause rapid corrosion of the outdoor units?
Yes, continued salt and sea wind exposure causes gradual corrosion of the unit's metals, and regular external cleaning and inspection of metal parts reduces corrosion and extends service life.
My villa has large outdoor areas; how do we make team access easiest?
Clear obstacles and garden furniture from around the outdoor units, tell us each unit's location and access ease, and ensure there is adequate space nearby to park close.
