When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Farouq is a relatively older residential district dominated by medium-rise apartment blocks and small flats, most built before central air became widespread. The closely built blocks limit outdoor space, making window AC the only practical solution for many residents. Year-round heat and humidity accelerate capacitor and coil degradation, so quick accurate inspection helps residents decide whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

Al Farouq lies in south Jeddah with older closely built residential blocks around main roads, in an area of intense heat and strong solar exposure.

Most window units here are ten years old or more and require regular inspection of the capacitor and coil because of the hot, humid environment.

The AC setup in Al Farouq

  1. 1

Window units without modern drainage systems

Units here are often old and lack upgraded drainage pipes, causing water pooling and dripping on humid days.

  2. 2

Capacitors under constant stress from heat

Due to constant sun and high heat exposure, capacitors fail faster, and early repair prevents sudden breakdown.

  3. 3

Supply wiring that may be weak or outdated

Some flats were built before modern electrical standards, so wiring may need checking before restarting the unit.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Farouq

  1. 1

Clear space around the window unit

Ensure the window and unit have no furniture or heavy curtains in front so the team can inspect and work easily.

  2. 2

    Coordinate with neighbours if needed

If the flat is in a close-built block, tell the team if there are special entry arrangements or if the building manager needs advance notice.

  3. 3

    Disconnect power to the unit

Cut power from the panel or unplug the unit before the team arrives to ensure safe inspection and repair.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My unit does not cool like it used to, must I replace it?

Often it is just a dirty coil or low refrigerant, which costs less to fix than replace. We inspect it and tell you whether repair is possible.

The buildings are close together here, how do you reach my flat?

We carry repair tools by hand up the stairs or lift and coordinate the visit time with you in advance.

The sun beats on my window all day, does that weaken the AC?

Yes, constant sun exposure and high heat accelerate motor and capacitor fatigue. Regular cleaning and inspection extend the unit's life.

The building's electrical supply is sometimes weak, does that affect the repair?

We inspect the electrical connection and supply voltage before repair. If power is weak, we advise having an electrician check before restarting.
