When your window unit needs attention
- 1
Weak cooling even on full power
The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.
- 2
Water leaking into the room
Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.
- 3
Loud noise or a fan that will not spin
Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.
Who it's for
Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor
We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.
Ask on WhatsAppYour shop's window unit runs but does not cool
We diagnose the coil, filter, capacitor and thermostat at your shop and carry out the repair needed to restore cooling with the least disruption to your business.

How we work
How we work
- 1
Describe the fault
WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.
- 2
On-site diagnosis
The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.
- 3
Repair or replace call
If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.
- 4
Run test and handover
After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.
Real diagnosis or a quick guess?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| First step | Systematic check of each part | Replace the easiest part |
| Rust | Honest chassis assessment | Ignored until it worsens |
| Dripping | Tilt and tray checked first | Refrigerant added without diagnosis |
| Replace decision | Based on actual condition | May be rushed or delayed |
| Refrigerant type | Read from the unit nameplate | Wrong type may be added |

What sets this district apart
Al Hijrah buildings are mixed, mid-range flats and relatively older blocks, and many residents chose window units as a practical solution for small flats or shops. These units run most of the year due to the heat, and the damp soil round the building and road dust block the coils and fail capacitors faster. Repairing a window unit here means checking water drainage and condensation flow carefully, because excess water may leak into the flat.
Al Hijrah lies in north-east Jeddah, a mixed residential area of mid-rise blocks and small flats around local streets.
Window units here are typically mid-sized, 18 to 24 thousand British thermal units, mounted in room and kitchen windows with no extra external seal.
The AC setup in Al Hijrah
- 1
Mid-sized window units in residential flats
Most window units in Al Hijrah sit in bedrooms and living rooms of small to medium flats.
- 2
Window units in shops and small commercial spaces
Small shops around Al Hijrah use window units because space is tight and split systems don't suit the layout.
- 3
Windows with no external sealing
Most windows here open directly to the street with no extra sealing, so air and water leaks worsen over time.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Hijrah
- 1
Switch off the unit before we arrive
Turn off the window unit at least an hour before our visit so the coils and capacitor cool down safely.
- 2
Clear space around the window
Make sure furniture and items are clear of the window so the team can reach the unit and drain easily.
- 3
Inform neighbours about the visit time
If the window is close to neighbours' units, let them know about the visit time so they won't worry about noises during the diagnosis.

FAQ
Questions about Window AC repair
Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?
Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.
How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?
The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.
The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?
The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.
Why does my window unit drip water into the room?
A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.
Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?
Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.
My window unit drips water into the flat, is it the drainage?
The drain may be clogged with debris or the unit tilted the wrong way toward the room instead of out. We clear the drain and re-level the unit on the visit.
The unit makes a grinding noise and cooling is dropping, what should I do?
The fan may be rubbing against something or the capacitor failing. Do not run it and tell us about the noise so we can diagnose whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
The humidity and heat here are very high, how often should I clean the coils?
The humidity speeds up mould and dust buildup on the coils, so we recommend cleaning them at least twice during the hot season.
The electrical connection at the window is old, does this affect the repair?
We check the connection and wiring on every repair, and we advise you to upgrade it if we spot any safety risk.
