When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Rughamah is a sprawling residential district mixing large villas and scattered apartment blocks among open spaces and gardens, with newer urban development than the coastal areas. Most villas and flats here still use window units because central AC is costlier for new installations. The district sees moderate urban dust and high summer heat, increasing unit load and requiring regular checks of electrical and mechanical parts.

Al Rughamah lies in east Jeddah amid villas and buildings scattered across a wide area, a growing residential zone with wider streets and open spaces.

Window units here are often relatively newer but heavily loaded by intense daily use during the long summer season.

The AC setup in Al Rughamah (Abraq Al Rughamah)

  1. 1

Window units in large villas with multiple windows

Large villas in Al Rughamah may have two or three window units in different rooms, each requiring separate maintenance.

  2. 2

Window units in scattered apartment blocks

Buildings scattered among gardens and open spaces rely on independent window units because central ducting across wider areas is impractical.

  3. 3

Extended electrical runs for outlying units

Some units far from the main board need longer cable runs, which can increase voltage drop.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rughamah (Abraq Al Rughamah)

  1. 1

Ensure safe access to the unit

If the unit is at height, ensure a sturdy ladder and safe working space by the window are available.

  2. 2

Alert the team to any obstacles around the villa

Let us know if there are water wells, overhead power lines or nearby trees that might obstruct ladder work.

  3. 3

Have dedicated power ready for testing

Know the location of the unit's dedicated circuit breaker so we can safely disconnect and reconnect power several times during diagnosis.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

The unit doesn't cool as well as before, is dirt buildup the cause?

Usually yes. The coil may be blocked by dust and mould, or the copper pipes may need extra charge. We fully inspect the unit before deciding on repair or replacement.

The unit is on the second-floor window of my villa, is there a fall hazard?

We use safe ladders and safety harnesses when working at height. We inspect the window frame and unit before starting and ensure secure mounting before leaving.

Does dust and extreme summer heat affect the unit's lifespan?

Yes, high heat and dust strain the capacitor and compressor. Cleaning at least three times a year preserves performance and extends unit life.

My villa is far from the main electrical feed, does that affect repair?

We check the power quality before and during repair. If voltage drop is severe, the unit may need a separate voltage stabiliser to protect its electrical components.
