When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Muntazah is a modern district with varied apartment blocks, housing relatively spacious flats of three to five rooms with wider corridors than central Jeddah. Central AC here needs longer ducts and stepped air distribution to cover larger areas, with close attention to preventing drain water seeping to lower flats. The outdoor unit on the roof needs protection from coastal humidity and the higher heat common in east Jeddah.

Al Muntazah is in east Jeddah, a district of modern apartment blocks with spacious flats and wide corridors.

Most flats here are larger than their downtown counterparts, with suspended ceilings at 2.8 metres or higher, and outdoor units mounted on secure roofs with good spacing between units.

The AC setup in Al Muntazah

  1. 1

Indoor unit centred in the suspended ceiling

The indoor unit is centred in the main hallway of the spacious flat to ensure even air distribution to all rooms.

  2. 2

    Ducts with extended reach

Ducts extend longer distances than in smaller flats, with outlets in each room to maintain pressure balance and comfort.

  3. 3

    Outdoor unit with heat protection

The outdoor unit is mounted in a well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight as much as possible, with safe spacing from other units.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Muntazah

  1. 1

Provide a detailed flat floor plan

The floor plan helps us identify the best unit placement and calculate duct length and outlet count for each room.

  2. 2

Ensure easy roof access for the team

Confirm the route to the roof from inside the building, and tell us if any staircase or door needs advance approval.

  3. 3

Agree outdoor unit location with management

Coordinate with building management on a safe, suitable location for the outdoor unit, away from neighbours' windows and ventilation openings.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

Does the larger flat size make central AC installation easier?

Yes, the wider spaces and larger corridors give us more room to distribute ducts efficiently, but we must carefully size the unit to ensure full coverage of all rooms without waste.

Does the intense heat in east Jeddah affect the outdoor unit?

Yes, this area is hotter than central Jeddah, so we choose a spot for the outdoor unit with good airflow and as much shade as possible, and regular maintenance keeps it running efficiently.

How do you handle larger volumes of condensate drain in spacious flats?

We design the drainage system with appropriately sized pipes and sufficient slope to ensure efficient water discharge without pooling or backflow into the indoor unit.

Do wider corridors change where you place the indoor unit?

Wider corridors give us more placement options, but we choose the spot that delivers the best air distribution and minimises noise to neighbours, usually in the corridor centre or above the entry door.
