Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Rayyan is a modern residential and commercial district with medium-sized buildings, and many shops and restaurants have limited expansion space. Cold rooms here often need custom design to fit tight spaces or available corners, with careful insulation of sun-facing external walls to reduce heat load. Moderate humidity and heat require efficient condensers, and copper lines must run through the building carefully to prevent thermal loss.

Al Rayyan is in east Jeddah, a modern residential and commercial district with medium-rise buildings, small shops and restaurants.

Most cold rooms here are small to medium (6 to 20 square metres) serving individual shops and restaurants with medium-capacity condensers.

The AC setup in Al Rayyan

  1. 1

Compact cold room with wall-mounted evaporator

In small shops and restaurants, we mount the evaporator on the wall to save floor space and allow staff to move freely.

  2. 2

Condenser on external balcony or side wall

The outdoor unit is mounted on an external balcony or side wall, away from front windows and the main entrance.

  3. 3

    Simple and precise control system

We install a simple, user-friendly thermostat that automatically maintains the set temperature without unnecessary complexity.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rayyan

  1. 1

Show us the room location and available walls

Tell us exactly where you want the room, which walls are available for the evaporator and lines, and whether there is an external balcony for the outdoor unit.

  2. 2

Confirm safe access to the balcony or external wall

If the outdoor unit goes on a balcony, confirm it is safe and sturdy enough to support heavy equipment.

  3. 3

Coordinate with building management about the installation

If the building is multi-storey or managed by a board, notify them in advance to avoid conflicts with building regulations.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My shop is small with limited space, can you fit a cold room in it?

Yes, we design compact rooms to fit tight spaces. We visit to survey available corners and areas, then choose a size and shape that suits your shop without blocking traffic.

My shop faces the sun, does that affect the cold room?

Yes, sun-facing walls absorb extra heat. We insulate those walls carefully and select a stronger condenser to offset the additional thermal load.

Where do you mount the outdoor unit in a multi-storey building?

We choose the best available location, usually on an external balcony or side wall away from the main façade, coordinating with the building management.

Long copper runs lose efficiency, how do you handle that?

We avoid long runs where possible by placing the outdoor unit close to the room. If a longer run is unavoidable, we select properly sized pipes and insulate them well to minimise heat loss.
