When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah is a diverse residential zone with grocery shops, small to mid-sized supermarkets and popular restaurants, mostly on open main streets where there is more space than downtown Jeddah. Despite the wider space, high summer heat and humidity strain cooling systems, and the cabinet mounted on the shop's front façade faces direct outdoor heat, so dust and salt buildup on the condenser quickly cuts efficiency and destabilises temperatures across all shelves.

Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah in east Jeddah is a diverse residential zone with grocery shops, small supermarkets and restaurants on main streets.

Most display chillers here are vertical or horizontal cabinet units with bottom or rear condensers, mounted directly on the exposed front façade.

The AC setup in Umm Hablain Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

Vertical display units with double glass front

Larger grocery stores in Umm Hablain use vertical cabinets with double glass fronts and bottom condensers to reduce heat output.

  2. 2

Horizontal cabinets for dairy and food sections

Supermarkets use open-top horizontal cabinets for dairy and chilled foods and need regular checks on air curtain strength.

  3. 3

Standalone units placed at shop corners

Some shops place additional units in corners or entrances, and these units face external air currents that increase condenser strain.

Before the visit

  1. 1

Clear dust around the chiller and condenser

Remove dust and dirt accumulated around the chiller and condenser before the visit, especially if the unit is on an exposed façade.

  2. 2

Ensure the chiller door opens fully

Make sure the glass door slides or opens smoothly and nothing blocks it before the team arrives.

  3. 3

Tell us about any cooling problems you notice

Tell us if you notice uneven shelf cooling, persistent glass fogging or strange sounds from the condenser before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

My shop's chiller is on the exposed front, does it need more care than an indoor one?

Yes, direct sun and heat speed up dust and salt buildup on the condenser much faster, so monthly checks and condenser cleaning every two weeks in summer are essential.

In summer the chiller loses cooling power from 2 pm onwards, is that normal?

Usually not, intense midday heat stresses the condenser, but if the condenser is clean and the fans run at full strength, performance should stay steady, so checking the condenser and evaporator pinpoints the issue.

These streets are open and dusty with strong winds, does that affect the chiller?

Yes, dust and salt accumulate on the condenser and fans faster than in sheltered areas, so we recommend chiller cleaning every two weeks and a full inspection every two months.

The glass front has discoloured and lost its shine, does that affect the chiller's cooling?

Discolouration usually comes from frost, salt and dust buildup on the outer layer, which does not affect cooling itself but reduces product appeal to customers, so regular glass cleaning preserves clarity and performance.
