When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Khumrah is a relatively modern district in the south, near the coast, with medium-sized clinics and hospitals serving inpatient and emergency departments. Newer buildings and spread-out layouts allow reasonable central systems, but proximity to the sea, high humidity and salt air speed up metal corrosion. Outdoor units face intense stress from moisture and salt, and copper piping needs strong insulation and corrosion protection. Filters and coils need frequent cleaning because salt and humidity accelerate dirt buildup.

Al Khumrah lies in south Jeddah near the coast, a modern district mixing residential areas and medical facilities in a humid coastal environment.

Most hospitals here use central systems with corrosion-resistant outdoor units to handle salt air.

The AC setup in Al Khumrah

  1. 1

Central system with corrosion-resistant outdoor units

Hospitals here use stainless-steel and coated-aluminium outdoor units to withstand the salty, humid coastal environment.

  2. 2

    Strong, moisture-resistant insulation

All piping and connections are wrapped in high-quality insulation that blocks moisture and salt intrusion into the system.

  3. 3

    Heavy-duty filters and frequent cleaning

Filters are heavy-duty and replaced every two to three weeks, with outdoor units cleaned monthly to remove salt and sediment.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Khumrah

  1. 1

Identify parking and share logistics details

Tell us the hospital's location, nearest parking and how to access the plant room and roof where the outdoor units sit.

  2. 2

Coordinate with hospital management in advance

Arrange the date with facilities management to avoid peak hours or critical operations, and mention the team may check electrical connections too.

  3. 3

Ensure cleaning materials and protection gear are ready

Confirm access keys, safe stairs and fall protection on the roof are ready, as the team will need heavy cleaning equipment to remove salt and buildup.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Sea salt affects the AC; how do you protect it from rust?

We choose stainless steel and coated aluminium for all external unit parts, and recommend monthly cleaning to remove salt and mineral deposits.

High humidity may cause faults in wiring and connections; is this a risk?

Yes, humidity can corrode electrical connections. We use moisture-resistant connectors and recommend an electrical check every six months to ensure safety.

Copper piping may corrode quickly here; how do you maintain it?

We use moisture-resistant insulation on all piping and coat exposed runs with a protective seal against salt. Annual inspection helps spot early corrosion.

What if cooling performance drops because of salt buildup?

We do a deep clean of coils, filters and outdoor units, and in severe cases may need to replace filters or coils if corrosion is extensive.
