When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

  • Building a new hospital or medical centre

We survey the building early and design systems to each department's requirements before installation begins.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Nada is a relatively modern eastern area with specialist clinics and small health facilities on moderate plots. Coastal humidity and intense heat strain AC systems, especially in isolation rooms and pharmacies requiring precise temperature and moisture control. Routine maintenance must focus on coil and filter cleanliness to prevent moisture and mould buildup.

Al Nada lies in east Jeddah near the coast, a modern zone with diverse health facilities and clinics.

Most clinics and health facilities in Al Nada use intermediate AC systems combining split units with simple ducting and separate control per ward.

The AC setup in Al Nada

  1. 1

Mix of split units and simple ducting

Small clinics in Al Nada typically combine split units in isolation rooms with simple ducting for common areas.

  2. 2

Separate humidity control for pharmacies and storage

Pharmacy and medical storage rooms need separate temperature and humidity control, with systems often including an additional dehumidifier.

  3. 3

Outdoor units protected from coastal humidity

Outdoor units in Al Nada face coastal humidity and salt spray, so they need elevated placement and more frequent cleaning.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nada

  1. 1

Coordinate maintenance time with clinic management

Schedule the visit to avoid disrupting ongoing patient care and medical services in the facility.

  2. 2

    Confirm access to outdoor units

Ensure the team can safely access outdoor units and coils, and that the location is not excessively exposed to harsh weather.

  3. 3

List current AC units and any known issues

Provide a list of units and the departments they serve, plus any issues you have noticed such as weak cooling or water leaks.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

How does Al Nada's high humidity affect hospital AC?

Humidity increases cooling load and speeds mould growth in coils and filters, so you need more frequent coil cleaning and regular checks of water drainage.

Can we add AC units without major electrical changes?

It depends on the existing electrical installation and circuit capacity, we conduct a full survey before recommending any additions.

Are temperatures higher in the east, does the AC need more capacity?

Yes, east Jeddah is hotter and more sun-exposed, so clinic systems may need higher capacity or extra outdoor units depending on location and orientation.

How do we ensure drainage lines do not get blocked in high humidity?

We regularly inspect drainage lines for proper slope and cleanliness, and clear water filters during routine maintenance to prevent blockages and mould.
