When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Salamah's medical centres mix dental surgeries, general clinics and laboratories in relatively modern buildings with regular interior spaces. Cooling here matters not only for comfort but for the safety of medical equipment, samples and medicines that require stable temperatures. Central or multi-split systems are common in these buildings and call for careful maintenance to keep cooling unbroken during working hours.

Al Salamah sits in west Jeddah, an area clustering private and public clinics and health centres in modern buildings.

Most clinics and labs here use multi-split units or central cooling with separate control zones for each medical department.

The AC setup in Al Salamah

  1. 1

    Multi-split with separate control zones

Al Salamah clinics often need multiple units so each department controls its own temperature and humidity to its specific needs.

  2. 2

    Central cooling with zone control

Larger medical centres use central systems with separate control valves for each department to ensure even and efficient distribution.

  3. 3

High-efficiency air handling with filtration and dehumidification

Advanced filtration and dehumidification are essential for labs and clinics storing samples and medicines, to protect them from coastal humidity.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Salamah

  1. 1

List the clinic's departments and uses

Tell us the department names and types of medical equipment so we can design cooling that fits the temperature and humidity needs of each area.

  2. 2

Confirm space for the outdoor unit

Identify the outdoor unit location on the roof or outer wall, and ensure no obstruction will reduce efficiency or hinder maintenance access.

  3. 3

Coordinate with management on maintenance timing

Talk with clinic management to pick maintenance times that do not disrupt patient appointments or clinical operations.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Can you service the AC without closing the clinic?

Yes, we schedule maintenance at non-critical times and work on systems in a way that maintains cooling in occupied patient and staff areas.

Medical equipment needs stable temperature, how do you ensure this?

We design the system with separate control zones matching each department's needs, and regularly monitor temperatures to keep them within the safe range for equipment and samples.

Jeddah's humidity might affect medical devices, is this a real concern?

Yes, coastal humidity raises the risk of condensation and corrosion, so we recommend dehumidifying the indoor air and regular servicing of condensers and filters.

How much outdoor space does the external unit need?

It depends on the clinic's size and number of departments, and we survey the site to find the best location for the outdoor unit without impairing appearance or performance.
