When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Shifa is a developed area in south Jeddah with several specialist hospitals and clinics in modern buildings with good floor space. Central cooling systems here are complex and need precise regular maintenance due to intensive continuous use in care and operating units. Spacious roofs and reliable electrical connections in modern buildings create ideal conditions for installing and operating heavy equipment.

Al Shifa lies in south Jeddah, a modern area with high concentration of major specialist medical facilities.

Advanced central systems with smart controls and continuous humidity and temperature monitoring are the standard in Al Shifa's modern hospitals.

The AC setup in Al Shifa

  1. 1

Advanced central system with smart control

Al Shifa's modern hospitals need advanced central cooling with smart control units that monitor and automatically adjust heat load based on each department's needs.

  2. 2

    High-performance cooling coils and compressors

Critical departments need large cooling coils and powerful compressors capable of maintaining low temperatures and humidity continuously even on extreme heat days.

  3. 3

Fully equipped roofs for cooling equipment

Al Shifa's modern buildings offer fully equipped roofs with complete electrical and hydraulic setup for installing and operating heavy cooling equipment without connection or power issues.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shifa

  1. 1

    Provide heat-load and design documentation

Have heat-load reports and engineering drawings of the existing or planned system so we assess adequacy and efficiency and provide upgrade recommendations if needed.

  2. 2

Coordinate with facilities and medical operations staff

Inform the facilities manager and operations department of survey, installation or maintenance dates so we work at times that do not affect emergency or critical operations.

  3. 3

Ensure safe access to roofs and technical spaces

Check that roofs, corridors and underceiling technical spaces are safe to traverse and clear of obstacles, and that protected and secure electrical connections are available for new equipment.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

How do you ensure precise temperature and humidity in operating departments?

We install advanced sensors and automatic control systems that continuously monitor temperature and humidity and adjust units automatically. We check calibration regularly and recommend annual sensor calibration.

The hospital is new, and the old system is insufficient, how do we upgrade it?

We survey current and expected heat loads and design an additional or replacement system based on budget and requirements. We may add new units alongside old ones or phase out the old system after coordinating with hospital management.

Sea salt and humidity affect the equipment, how do you extend its lifespan?

We select corrosion-resistant metals and apply special protective coatings to outdoor units. Regular cleaning of salt and moisture plus scheduled visual inspections significantly reduce equipment deterioration.

Can you install remote monitoring for system control from anywhere?

Yes, we install smart control systems with mobile apps letting facilities staff monitor temperatures, humidity and faults from anywhere. This enables quick response to issues before they affect patient care.
