When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Sulaimaniyah hosts medium-sized hospitals and mixed medical centres alongside housing and commerce, and most of these medical facilities were built in the 1980s and 1990s using central or semi-central AC systems. Maintenance of these systems calls for knowledge of older equipment and modern alternatives, and close coordination with clinic or small hospital management to avoid service disruption.

Al Sulaimaniyah is in central Jeddah, a mixed-use district with medium hospitals and medical centres and clinics alongside residential and commercial buildings.

Most medium-sized hospitals in Al Sulaimaniyah run either a central chilled-water system or multiple AC units with unified distribution through shared ductwork.

The AC setup in Al Sulaimaniyah

  1. 1

    Central or semi-central chilled-water system

Older Al Sulaimaniyah clinics and hospitals use one chiller for several departments, or multiple smaller units with unified ducts.

  2. 2

Multiple AC units with shared distribution

Some smaller clinics have multiple AC units connected to a central or semi-central distribution system via shared ductwork.

  3. 3

Small technical room with manual backup controls

Most medium medical facilities have a basic technical room and a manual backup control panel for emergencies.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Our hospital systems are relatively old, can you maintain and upgrade them?

Yes, we have experience with older systems. We maintain them first and assess their condition, and if an upgrade is needed we suggest the best options without stopping medical service.

Can you provide regular maintenance without closing our medical clinic?

Yes, we schedule maintenance with clinic management during off-peak times, and keep backup systems safe while critical departments are operating.

Moisture and mould appear quickly in our ductwork, what is the solution?

We perform regular duct and coil cleaning and test air purity, and recommend high-efficiency filters and reviewing outdoor ventilation to reduce moisture.

Power cuts occur sometimes in the area, does this affect the cooling systems?

Repeated power cuts can damage equipment, so we recommend a backup generator for critical departments and install surge protection on automated controls.
