When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Jawharat Thuwal is a very new growth district with scattered, spacious buildings, mostly recently built, hosting advanced specialist hospitals and modern medical centres. The large gaps between buildings and open spaces allow large outdoor units and long copper and power runs without constraint, and modern designs include sophisticated cooling systems from the start. The coastal climate demands regular maintenance to protect units from salt and sea moisture long-term, and coordination with management is essential but easier than in crowded areas.

Jawharat Thuwal is a remote coastal district at far north Jeddah with advanced hospitals and specialist centres in modern, spaced-out buildings.

Most systems here are very new, high-capacity with smart controls, and outdoor units are typically on dedicated open areas or spacious building roofs.

The AC setup in Jawharat Thuwal

  1. 1

High-capacity central system for large hospitals

Large hospitals in Jawharat Thuwal use very powerful main cooling units with extensive ductwork and advanced smart controls for each department.

  2. 2

Outdoor units on large open areas

Large gaps between buildings allow easy placement of large outdoor units with ample ventilation and maintenance space around each one.

  3. 3

Long copper runs with advanced thermal insulation

Long distances between indoor and outdoor units require high-grade thermal insulation and salt-resistant copper piping.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Jawharat Thuwal

  1. 1

Obtain comprehensive system and location diagrams

Bring clear architectural diagrams of the central unit location, ductwork routes, and terminal units, specifying distances and heights for copper runs.

  2. 2

Coordinate with hospital management and clinical operations

Speak with operations and maintenance managers to schedule the initial survey and regular maintenance cycles after handover.

  3. 3

Confirm backup generator and protection systems availability

Confirm whether the hospital has a backup generator and electrical protection systems, and if so, provide location and available capacity before final design.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Our new hospital in Jawharat Thuwal has very modern systems; how do you provide technical support?

We establish long-term maintenance agreements and technical support contracts, provide emergency phone numbers and train your in-house maintenance team to handle minor issues.

The coastal environment affects the hospital; how do you protect systems from sea salt and moisture?

We choose salt-resistant units and piping, carry out regular cleaning of outdoor units and evaporators, and monitor closely to catch corrosion early for timely replacement.

Very long copper runs may need thermal insulation; how do you handle this?

We insulate copper pipes with high-grade foam, sizing it based on run length and ambient temperature to minimise heat loss and condensation.

For future consultations or upgrades, how can we reach you?

We provide a comprehensive maintenance plan with regular visits and a direct emergency line, and respond to upgrade requests as the hospital's needs evolve.
