When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.

What sets this district apart

Al Asla'a is a mid-maturity eastern district experiencing gradual growth, with shops, supermarkets and cafés in mid-rise buildings with moderate floor areas. Hot, humid air enters regularly with seasonal shifts, and the system must maintain balance between adequate cooling and moisture removal. Relatively modern buildings allow easy installation of central or multi-split systems, and regular maintenance keeps efficiency high especially during summer peak periods.

Al Asla'a is a mid-growth eastern district, a mixed neighbourhood with moderate commercial and residential development.

Medium shops and malls in Al Asla'a use multi-split or lightweight central systems to distribute cooling across shop sections.

The AC setup in Al Asla'a

  1. 1

    Multi-split system

Medium shops in Al Asla'a benefit from separate split units on different walls, offering flexibility and easy maintenance.

  2. 2

Lightweight central system with limited ducts

Some shops choose a lightweight central setup with one outdoor unit and multiple indoor units linked by short ducts.

  3. 3

Outdoor units on side walls or rooftops

Condenser units are mounted on safe side walls or roofs to avoid intense sun exposure on front-facing walls.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Our shop is medium-sized, which system do you recommend?

We choose a multi-split or lightweight central system depending on the internal layout, balancing efficiency and cost.

Humidity and heat change with the seasons, how does the system adapt?

We install humidity and temperature sensors that automatically adjust operation by season, with a dehumidifier that runs as needed.

Traffic varies between days, does the system control efficiently?

We select units with variable-speed motors that reduce load on quiet days and increase on busy days.

When can you service the system without affecting our business?

We can arrange early slots before opening or late slots after closing, or service isolated sections while the rest remains open.
