When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Salihiyah is a relatively modern eastern district mixing mid-sized malls with scattered retail shops across wide, orderly streets, tending to use either a unified central AC system or separate units depending on shop size and available space. Heat here is steady and high year-round, creating a consistent but intense thermal load, so drainage systems need careful monitoring to prevent excess moisture buildup. Preventive maintenance of filters and ducts cuts energy use and extends system lifespan.

Al Salihiyah is in eastern Jeddah, a modern, orderly commercial zone with mid-sized malls and regular broad streets.

Most malls and shops here use central AC units with duct distribution or independent ceiling units, depending on the cooled space's size.

The AC setup in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

Unified central system for multi-floor mall

Most large malls here rely on one or more central cooling units connected to a duct network spread across all floors and departments.

  2. 2

Separate units for smaller and medium shops

Smaller and medium shops often have their own ceiling or wall-mounted units, independent of the mall's central system.

  3. 3

Maintenance access points distributed across the network

Ducts and units are distributed in a way that allows regular inspection and maintenance points without major system disassembly.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

Coordinate with mall or shop management

Contact the mall supervisor or shop owner to set a maintenance time that does not disrupt customers or staff.

  2. 2

Clearly mark the outdoor units' location

Tell us exactly where the outdoor units and compressors are, whether on the roof or a rear area, to speed up access.

  3. 3

Inspect drainage lines before we arrive

Check that condensate drainage pipes are clear of blockages and debris, so we can complete maintenance without delays.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

Shops in Al Salihiyah vary widely in size, how do you work with different systems?

We assess each shop individually, whether it is connected to a mall's central system or has its own unit, and plan maintenance based on the actual space size and thermal load.

Our streets are wide and easy to access, but can outdoor units be hard to find?

The wide streets in Al Salihiyah make team and equipment access easy, and outdoor units are usually on mall roofs or marked rear areas.

Eastern Jeddah's heat is very high, does the system consume a lot of power?

Yes, the steady high heat load increases power consumption, so we focus on regular filter and evaporator cleaning and system tuning to cut usage without compromising cooling.

Humidity rises inside shops from open doors and heavy cooling, what is the fix?

We ensure drainage pipes are properly angled and clear of blockages, and we recommend under-door fans to reduce humid air entry.
