When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Shifa sits fairly close to the sea, with modern and mid-age shopping centres and retail shops, where coastal humidity stays high all year and threatens stock by rotting fabrics, electronics and inventory. The HVAC must remove humidity effectively alongside cooling, so we fit a dehumidifier or strong moisture-removal capability in the units. Regular maintenance is critical to clean filters and coils frequently and clear accumulated moisture.

Al Shifa is in south Jeddah close to the coast, a commercial zone affected by high coastal humidity all year.

Most shops and centres in Al Shifa run AC systems with humidity control, and some have a separate dehumidifier or dedicated moisture-removal unit.

The AC setup in Al Shifa

  1. 1

    Central AC with dedicated dehumidifier

Large centres here often have a central system with a separate dehumidifier unit to fight the constant coastal humidity.

  2. 2

Split units with high humidity-control rating

Independent shops and small clusters use split units carefully selected for their strong moisture-removal efficiency.

  3. 3

    Portable dehumidifier for emergencies

We recommend keeping a small portable dehumidifier as backup in case the centre closes for several days or the main system fails suddenly.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shifa

  1. 1

Check the current humidity level in the shop

If possible, measure current humidity with a meter beforehand so we understand the problem level and size the system accordingly.

  2. 2

Ensure outdoor units are easily accessible

Outdoor units in Al Shifa face salt and moisture, so make sure they are easily reachable for frequent cleaning and regular service.

  3. 3

Coordinate a regular maintenance schedule with management

Because humidity is high, maintenance needs to happen more often than in other areas, so agree with management on a monthly or three-weekly service schedule.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

The humidity here is very high, how does AC protect stock from damage?

We choose units with strong moisture-removal capacity and fit an extra dehumidifier if needed. Filters and coils need cleaning roughly every three weeks to maintain performance.

The coast is very close to the shop, does salt air affect the AC units?

Yes, salt and sea moisture speed up corrosion on metal parts, so we choose units with extra protective coating and recommend regular cleaning of outdoor parts.

We must run the AC all year because of humidity, does this hugely increase electricity?

Continuous operation does raise power use, but we offset it with good insulation, high-efficiency design and by sealing air leaks around doors and windows.

The centre closes on holidays sometimes, how do we manage humidity then?

We advise running a dehumidification and ventilation cycle during long closures to prevent moisture buildup, and may recommend a portable dehumidifier on days the main system is off.
