When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Ammariyah is a dense residential district with mid-rise closely built blocks and small flats, marked by narrow windows and tight gaps between buildings that reduce natural ventilation and concentrate heat and dust. Windows here are usually standard but small, and frames may be weak due to building age; every installation must respect neighbours' peace and the outdoor unit placement. Good sealing here is not optional but essential to block the heat and dust that accumulate in the tight building gaps.

Al Ammariyah is a dense central Jeddah district of closely built mid-rise blocks with small flats, known for tight building gaps and high occupancy.

Small window ACs are very common here because flats are space-limited, and frames are usually standard windows but may need reinforcement due to older construction.

The AC setup in Al Ammariyah

  1. 1

Small window unit in a compact flat

Small flats in Al Ammariyah rely on standardised small window units, with narrow windows that may need extra supports.

  2. 2

Reinforced sealing against internal heat and dust

The tight gaps between buildings trap heat and dust, so sealing must be thick and strong on all sides.

  3. 3

    Outdoor unit with minimal protrusion

Tight gaps require selecting an outdoor unit with minimal depth and installing it carefully to avoid disturbing neighbours.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ammariyah

  1. 1

    Measure the window very precisely

Send us the window dimensions in centimetres, with a photo showing the frame and wall around it.

  2. 2

    Check the current frame strength

Before the visit, tap the frame gently and alert us if you hear a hollow sound or spot cracks, as this signals weakness we may need to address.

  3. 3

    Coordinate with neighbours if possible

Tell your neighbours about the expected installation time, especially if your window is close to theirs or the outdoor unit will be adjacent to their wall.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My flat is very small and tight, will a small window AC be enough?

We review your flat's size and available window with you, and recommend the right unit size for your cooling needs, ensuring the outdoor unit does not protrude excessively.

My neighbours are very close, will the unit's noise bother them?

We select a low-noise unit and install it with flexible dampers to reduce vibration and sound, and will coordinate with neighbours if possible before installation.

Hot air and dust enter around the window despite an old unit, how do you fix that?

We remove the old unit carefully, clean gaps and cracks, then install the new unit and seal every opening with thick strong insulation to prevent any seepage.

The window frame is old and might be weak, can it bear the unit's weight?

We inspect the frame and surrounding wall carefully first, and if the frame is weak we recommend reinforcement or replacement before installation, or distribute weight across additional supports if possible.
