When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Furqan is a northern residential district with villas and mid-rise flats, mostly with standardised windows that suit window units well. However, the northern location means constant exposure to desert winds and dust, so any gap around the unit will let hot air and grit in. Proper installation with the correct outward tilt is essential to keep condensate draining outside and away from your interior walls.

Al Furqan lies in northern Jeddah, mixing villas with medium-density residential blocks.

Most windows in Al Furqan are standard sizes that easily accommodate window units, with the outdoor part sitting directly outside the window.

The AC setup in Al Furqan

  1. 1

Standard window unit in a regular-sized window

Most Al Furqan windows are standardised, so the unit fits directly into the frame with minimal adjustment.

  2. 2

Outer frame sealed against dust and hot air

We seal the gaps around the unit with strong insulation to block desert winds and fine dust.

  3. 3

Slight outward tilt for condensate drainage

The unit sits at a slight angle outward so condensed water drains straight out, not down inside.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Furqan

  1. 1

Check the window frame is strong

Make sure the window frame is solid and free of cracks before the visit, as it will carry the unit's full weight.

  2. 2

Clear the window of obstacles and curtains

Remove curtains and any obstacles around the window to give the team clear space to install the unit safely.

  3. 3

Tell us if the window faces a narrow passage or street

If the outdoor part of the unit will sit close to a path or street, let us know in advance so we can install it safely without obstruction.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Are the villa windows in Al Furqan suitable for a window unit?

Yes, most villas and flats in Al Furqan have standard-sized windows that suit window units well. We inspect the window and frame before installation to confirm they can safely bear the weight.

The strong northern winds worry me, will they affect the unit?

Strong northern and north-westerly winds do pose challenges, but we install the unit securely and account for wind direction. We seal every gap around the frame to prevent air and dust infiltration.

Desert dust gets into my flat from everywhere, will it leak around the AC?

Yes, Al Furqan's northern location means constant desert dust exposure. We seal the gaps around the frame with strong insulating materials to minimise dust and hot-air entry.

How do you ensure condensate does not drip down the inside wall?

We install the unit with a precise outward tilt so condensate drains out through its drainage opening, away from your inside walls.
