Window AC installation in Al Masarrah

In Al Masarrah, south Jeddah, installing window AC units in closely built residential blocks calls for careful sealing against coastal humidity, salt and dust. Alrabih's team levels the frame precisely, fills every gap, and tilts the unit slightly outward so condensate drains safely away.

When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Masarrah is a relatively older residential district with closely built blocks and adjoining flats with medium-sized windows, and many residents choose window units for spare rooms to save costs. The proximity to the coast means high humidity and salt in the air, so precise sealing and correct tilt are essential to prevent water leaking and metal frame rust. Adjacent flats also mean coordinating the visit time with neighbours before starting work.

Al Masarrah sits in south Jeddah close to the coast, an older residential district of closely built blocks and adjoining apartments.

Al Masarrah's windows are usually medium-sized in metal frames that may be somewhat older, and coastal humidity speeds up frame rust if not sealed properly.

The AC setup in Al Masarrah

  1. 1

One or two window units per flat

Adjoining flats in Al Masarrah typically fit just one or two window units to cool the main bedroom or sitting room.

  2. 2

    Relatively older metal frames

Many of Al Masarrah's window frames are older metal and may need reinforcement or extra care before fitting the unit.

  3. 3

Simple external drain from the wall

Most units here drain condensate directly down the outer wall, so correct tilt is critical.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Masarrah

  1. 1

Coordinate the visit time with adjacent neighbours

Adjacent flats mean drilling noise may bother neighbours. Tell them about the fit time in advance or ask permission.

  2. 2

Check the metal frame and glass for rust

Check the frame for rust or cracks that might affect safe mounting. Let us know if you find problems before the visit day.

  3. 3

Clear the outdoor area around the window

Make sure no bins, wires or furniture block the outdoor area below the window to allow condensate to drain freely downward.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Salt spray damages the frame, does proper sealing help?

Yes, careful sealing reduces moisture and salt seeping into the frame edges. We use salt-resistant insulation around all sides to protect the metal frame.

My flat is next to my neighbour's, will fitting disturb them?

Fitting involves drilling small holes for fasteners which can be loud. Let us know when you book so we can agree a time that doesn't disturb your neighbour, or coordinate with them in advance.

High humidity causes water to leak from the bottom of the window, how do you fix that?

Correct outward tilt and good gap sealing drain condensate away. We measure the tilt precisely and clear the drain channel before running the unit.

The metal frame is getting old, can it take the weight of a new unit?

We inspect the frame carefully before fitting and check its fasteners. If the frame is weak, we recommend reinforcing or replacing it before mounting the unit for safety.
