When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Ruhaili is a north-east Jeddah area with elevated terrain and modern residential blocks sited at varying levels. Eastern winds blow directly across the district carrying heavy desert dust that quickly accumulates on AC units. Windows often sit at different heights due to the natural slope, requiring special care in fixing and sealing.

Al Ruhaili is in north-east Jeddah, characterised by elevated terrain and residential blocks on natural slopes.

Most windows here face direct eastern winds, and units require precise tilt and tight sealing because desert dust penetrates gaps rapidly.

The AC setup in Al Ruhaili

  1. 1

Windows at varying heights on slopes

Al Ruhaili's elevated terrain means windows are not level, requiring unique fixing for each location rather than a standard approach.

  2. 2

    Strong frames on modern walls

Al Ruhaili's outer walls are modern and can bear window unit weight, but the strong winds call for extra bracing beyond standard requirements.

  3. 3

    Safe condensate drainage despite slopes

The natural slope means water drainage may need extra direction, but proper unit tilt ensures safe outward drainage clear of interior walls.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ruhaili

  1. 1

Measure the opening and note the height

Tell us the window dimensions and its height from ground, especially if it is high or on a slope, so we can choose the right equipment and brackets.

  2. 2

    Confirm safe external access

Check that the team can safely reach the window from outside, whether from ground or balcony, and tell us of any obstacles or unusual height.

  3. 3

    Ensure nearby safe power supply

Confirm there is a safe, working electrical outlet near the window so we can test the unit immediately after installation.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Our winds are very strong, does this affect the unit's stability?

We use strong brackets and ensure the frame is rock solid. In Al Ruhaili, we add extra bracing if needed to keep the unit secure under eastern wind pressure.

The dust here is heavy, does this affect installation?

Desert dust causes rapid buildup on coils and filters, but proper installation and tight sealing reduce dust entry. We ensure every gap around the frame is sealed with high-grade silicone.

Heights vary here, does this complicate installation?

Elevated terrain means windows sit at varying heights. We measure each location precisely and use appropriate fastening equipment to ensure correct tilt and safe condensate drainage regardless of height.

Do high heat and strong winds together strain the unit?

The combination of intense heat and strong winds increases strain on the unit. Tight sealing and robust fixing help distribute pressure safely, and quality units are designed for these combined conditions.
