When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Abeer is a relatively modern residential neighbourhood with medium-sized flats and apartment towers, and many residents still use window units instead of splits because of lower upfront cost. But window ACs collect dirt and moisture quickly in the coastal climate, and water leaks or noise appear easily without regular cleaning. Accurate diagnosis saves you needless replacement and catches repairs in time.

Al Abeer is in north Jeddah, a modern residential area of multi-storey apartment towers and medium-sized flats.

Window units here are typically mounted in bedroom and living-room windows, with drain pipes that need the correct outward tilt.

The AC setup in Al Abeer

  1. 1

    One window unit per room

Each flat in Al Abeer typically uses one or two window units only, mounted independently in the windows.

  2. 2

    Direct external water drainage

Drain pipes run directly outside through the window, so correct tilt and a clean pipe are essential.

  3. 3

    Older units need periodic inspection

Many window units in these flats have passed their prime, so periodic checks prevent sudden breakdowns.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Abeer

  1. 1

Open the window and clear the surrounding area

  2. 2

Switch off the unit's power in advance

Before the team arrives, switch off the unit's power at the main plug.

  3. 3

Let us know how the building entry works and any restrictions on visiting hours from the building management.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips water inside the room, how do I know if it is repairable?

The drain pipe might be clogged or the unit not tilted correctly for drainage, both simple fixes. We diagnose it on the first visit and tell you before we start.

The unit makes a grinding noise, does that mean I must buy a new one?

Not always, the blower wheel might just need deep cleaning or the bearings have debris pressing on them. Inspection shows whether repair is possible.

Jeddah is coastal and humid, does this speed up problems with window units?

Yes, humidity speeds up capacitor and bearing wear, and salt build-up on coils accelerates. Cleaning and regular servicing are more essential here than in drier areas.

Does the unit's electrical connection in the flat affect servicing?

We check the wiring and plug before any work, and if they are old or loose we recommend fixing them first for the unit's safety.
