When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Rayyan is a mixed residential district combining small villas and medium-rise apartment blocks, and many villas and flats here have not yet moved from window units to a modern central system. The district is slightly inland from the coast but faces high summer humidity and moderate urban dust. Window units here combine long domestic use with electrical load on a separate board, requiring regular checks of the capacitor and safe connections.

Al Rayyan sits in the residential east of Jeddah, a mixed district of villas and apartment blocks among gardens and relatively open spaces.

Window units here are mostly mounted on bedroom and lounge windows, and many are old enough to be a decade or more in age.

The AC setup in Al Rayyan

  1. 1

    Window units in small villas

Many small villas in Al Rayyan rely on one or two window units to cool the main rooms.

  2. 2

Window units in flats without central AC

Older and mid-age apartment blocks were not fitted with central AC, so each flat relies on independent window units.

  3. 3

    Separate electrical circuit per unit

Most relatively modern units are connected to a dedicated switch on the home or flat's main board, simplifying maintenance and safe disconnection.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rayyan

  1. 1

    Confirm the exact unit location

Tell us exactly whether the unit is on the lounge, bedroom or other window, and how high it sits above ground.

  2. 2

    Clear space around the window

Make sure the window is clear of furniture and heavy curtains so the team can reach the unit safely and easily.

  3. 3

    Locate the dedicated circuit breaker

Know where the dedicated circuit breaker is in your home's board so we can safely cut power before inspection.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit makes a grinding noise, is that dangerous?

The noise could come from a dirty blower wheel or loose mounting. We disassemble, clean and inspect the fan and internal bearing before reassembly.

My villa is old with wide windows, how do you fit the unit?

We measure the window before the visit and determine whether the existing unit fits securely or needs an extra metal frame for better stability.

Summer humidity is high and the unit drips constantly, what can be done?

High humidity increases condensation on the coil and the drain needs regular cleaning. We check the tilt and clear any blockage in the external pipes.

The unit is wired to an old electrical board, is it safe?

We inspect the wiring, switch and cable before and after repair. If discolouration or charring is present, we recommend safe rewiring by a qualified electrician.
