When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Quraini'yah is a mixed residential and commercial neighbourhood of small groceries, busy markets and varied small retailers, where population density drives demand for small display fridges. The southern location means very high temperatures combined with slow moisture buildup from seasonal rains and nearby sea air. This combination of heat and dampness causes rapid mould and rust on coils and condensers, and accelerating dirt on fans, demanding frequent maintenance to prevent cold loss and poor humidity control inside the cabinet.

Al Quraini'yah sits in south Jeddah near the coastal belt, a mixed residential district with small shops and local markets.

Most display units here are mid-sized with internal coils prone to mould from moisture, and external condensers exposed to rust and dust.

The AC setup in Al Quraini'yah

  1. 1

Small display units with side-mounted condensers

Small groceries here use mid-sized units with side-mounted condensers due to tight rear space.

  2. 2

Display fridges with sliding or hinged door

Many butcher and poultry shops here choose units with sliding doors for quick access to stock.

  3. 3

Units with central water drainage due to high moisture

Units here often have strong water drains to handle excess moisture from humid air and mould.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Quraini'yah

  1. 1

Check the water drain and make sure it is clear

A blocked drain causes water pooling inside the cabinet and rapid mould growth. Make sure the drain line is clear before the visit.

  2. 2

Tell us if you notice odd smells or discoloration of the coil

Odd smells and colour changes may indicate advanced mould. Describe them to the team so it brings appropriate disinfectants and cleaners.

  3. 3

Leave adequate space in front and behind the unit

Units here are often crammed with stock. Clear space in front and behind so the team can inspect and clean effectively.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

High humidity and extreme heat together, does this damage the fridge?

Yes, this dangerous combination causes rapid mould on coils inside and rust on the external condenser. Quarterly inspection and cleaning is recommended here to prevent performance collapse.

The evaporator coil is black with mould, can it be cleaned without replacing the whole unit?

Yes, we can clean the coil by removing it and washing it with a disinfectant solution without replacing the whole unit. Cleaning restores performance significantly.

Moist sea air blows directly at the shop front, should I protect the fridge?

Extra protection helps but is not enough alone. A light insulating cover in front reduces exposure to moist air, but effective regular cleaning is the core solution.

The condenser smells odd and there is a small water leak, what is wrong?

The smell may indicate mould in the coil or blockage in the drain line. The water leak may be from moisture buildup. Full inspection of coils and drains is needed to resolve both issues.
