When does a factory need a specialist system?

  1. 1

    Machine heat exhausting the workers

Compressors, motors and furnaces push out steady heat that scattered split units cannot handle. We assess every heat source on site and design a system that removes that heat and delivers cooled air precisely where people work.

  2. 2

A high roof that traps hot air

Hot air rises and collects under the roof while workers suffer at floor level. Evaporator positions, airflow angles and unit sizing all depend on the ceiling height and building shape, and the site survey decides each of these.

  3. 3

    Production dust destroying equipment

In wood, metal and plastic factories, coarse dust enters units and damages compressors and coils. We select equipment suited to industrial environments and design air paths that separate cooling air from contaminated process air wherever possible.

Who it's for

  • Building a new factory that needs HVAC

We join at design stage to fix unit positions, duct routes and extraction before the roof is cast and machines are installed, so the system is built into the structure from the start.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Industrial site survey

Our team visits the factory during operation to measure actual heat from machines, map worker zones and critical processes, record ceiling heights and identify possible duct routes.

  2. 2

    System design

We design central plant, distributed units or a combination to suit the factory, and fix the positions of extraction and ventilation units, duct sizes and damper locations before you approve the work.

  3. 3

    Fabrication and installation

We fabricate duct in our own workshop from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, mount units and insulate pipework with Armaflex and Kimmco materials.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and scheduled maintenance

We commission the system, check airflow distribution, refrigerant pressure and damper balance, then set up a preventive and corrective maintenance contract timed to fit around your production shifts.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Sham in old downtown Jeddah holds very small workshops, carpentry, blacksmithing, tailoring, repairs, in ancient buildings with medium ceilings and very tight spaces between walls. Heat from simple machines and shop furnaces is limited compared to factories, but the extremely tight space and high coastal humidity create a simultaneously damp and hot environment. Natural ventilation is very poor because buildings are closely packed, so we need small units and strong extraction to remove moisture and smoke.

Harat Al Sham in old downtown Jeddah, a historic district of tiny workshops in closely packed ancient buildings near the sea.

Most workshops here use only window units or a single split, no central systems due to tight spaces and relatively low ceilings.

The AC setup in Harat Al Sham

  1. 1

Small window units or light split

Tiny Al Sham workshops use small window units or just one split, as space allows nothing more.

  2. 2

Strong extraction fans to remove moisture

Coastal damp and wet walls need strong extraction fans, not just cool air, to expel humid air from the workshop.

  3. 3

Check and seal water seepage first

Before any ventilation system, we inspect walls and foundations to locate moisture sources and seal or insulate them.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Sham

  1. 1

Clear a small space in front for equipment

Harat Al Sham's street is very tight and usually has parked cars, ensure space near the door so equipment can be carried in.

  2. 2

Inspect exterior walls and foundation for seepage

Before the visit, show us any wet walls or visible water seepage so we can inspect and recommend the best solution.

  3. 3

Tell us the building's age and past repairs

Old buildings may have longstanding structural issues, tell us about past repairs or known problems so we choose the right solution.

FAQ

Questions about Factory HVAC

Can you cool just the worker zones without cooling the whole factory?

Yes, and we do it often. We design spot cooling for workstations or worker walkways using independent units or directed duct runs, rather than trying to cool the entire building volume. The right approach depends on the site and the process, and the survey decides it.

How do you handle heavy industrial dust in Jeddah?

We select units with a protection rating suited to the industrial environment and route airflow away from dust sources where the layout allows. In scheduled maintenance we inspect and clean coils, compressors and filters before deposits build up and affect unit performance.

Do you fabricate the large ducts a factory needs?

Yes, in our own workshop we fabricate round and rectangular duct to any size the design calls for, from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, including plenums, transitions and dampers needed to control air distribution.

Can you do maintenance between production shifts?

Yes, when we set up the preventive maintenance contract we agree times that fit your production schedule, whether between shifts or on rest days. The aim is that production lines are never stopped because of maintenance work.

What is the difference between process ventilation and worker-zone air conditioning?

Process ventilation targets heat and fumes produced by machinery and production lines, using exhaust fans and calculated fresh-air inlets sized to the heat load at each source. Worker-zone air conditioning aims to maintain a tolerable temperature at floor level without cooling the full volume of the building. A site survey of each factory decides which approach fits each area.

My workshop is very tight and very damp, how do you solve that?

We install a small window unit or light split, and add strong extraction ventilation to remove moisture and smoke from the tight space, and advise drying walls if there is water seepage.

The building is very old, can it take an outdoor unit on the wall?

We inspect the exterior wall first to confirm its strength, and may mount the unit at a strong point or use extra metal brackets to ensure safety.

Humidity causes mould in my workshop, will AC fix it?

AC reduces humidity, but the root issue is likely wall or foundation seepage. We fix ventilation and extraction, but recommend fixing the moisture source first.

The street is very narrow and has parked cars, how will your team get equipment in?

We agree on the nearest parking point and working hours, carry equipment by hand through narrow passages, and ask you to clear a small space in front if possible.
