When does a factory need a specialist system?

  1. 1

    Machine heat exhausting the workers

Compressors, motors and furnaces push out steady heat that scattered split units cannot handle. We assess every heat source on site and design a system that removes that heat and delivers cooled air precisely where people work.

  2. 2

A high roof that traps hot air

Hot air rises and collects under the roof while workers suffer at floor level. Evaporator positions, airflow angles and unit sizing all depend on the ceiling height and building shape, and the site survey decides each of these.

  3. 3

    Production dust destroying equipment

In wood, metal and plastic factories, coarse dust enters units and damages compressors and coils. We select equipment suited to industrial environments and design air paths that separate cooling air from contaminated process air wherever possible.

Who it's for

  • Building a new factory that needs HVAC

We join at design stage to fix unit positions, duct routes and extraction before the roof is cast and machines are installed, so the system is built into the structure from the start.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Industrial site survey

Our team visits the factory during operation to measure actual heat from machines, map worker zones and critical processes, record ceiling heights and identify possible duct routes.

  2. 2

    System design

We design central plant, distributed units or a combination to suit the factory, and fix the positions of extraction and ventilation units, duct sizes and damper locations before you approve the work.

  3. 3

    Fabrication and installation

We fabricate duct in our own workshop from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, mount units and insulate pipework with Armaflex and Kimmco materials.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and scheduled maintenance

We commission the system, check airflow distribution, refrigerant pressure and damper balance, then set up a preventive and corrective maintenance contract timed to fit around your production shifts.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Factories and workshops in Harat Al Mazloum are smaller than northern counterparts, often housed in older buildings with standard rather than high ceilings. The main challenge is designing a cooling system strong enough to absorb machine heat without creating noise or airflow that disturbs neighbouring residents. Ductwork needs precise layout because space is tight, and outdoor units must be mounted away from residential windows.

Harat Al Mazloum is in old Jeddah's historic core, where small factories and workshops are tightly mixed with residential units and shops around the traditional markets.

Most workshops here use small to medium central units with distributed ductwork, and the outdoor unit is mounted on a side wall or lower roof to minimise noise.

The AC setup in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Compact central unit with limited ductwork

Small workshops in Harat Al Mazloum typically need a single compact central unit with simple ductwork routing cool air to key work areas.

  2. 2

Outdoor unit on a low side wall

Rather than a high roof, the outdoor unit sits on a low side wall or covered ledge to reduce noise transmission to neighbouring residents.

  3. 3

Natural ventilation to supplement mechanical cooling

Natural windows and openings in the old workshop are used to reduce AC load and improve airflow during cooler night hours.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Notify neighbours in advance of installation date

Contact neighbouring residents and nearby workshops to inform them of installation and maintenance dates and avoid disruptions.

  2. 2

Confirm access to exterior walls and roof space

Ensure side walls and lower roof areas are safe and accessible for mounting the outdoor unit without damaging the older structure.

  3. 3

Map ductwork routes inside the workshop

Help us identify the best routes for ductwork so they do not impede operations and fit cleanly through existing ceilings and walls.

FAQ

Questions about Factory HVAC

Can you cool just the worker zones without cooling the whole factory?

Yes, and we do it often. We design spot cooling for workstations or worker walkways using independent units or directed duct runs, rather than trying to cool the entire building volume. The right approach depends on the site and the process, and the survey decides it.

How do you handle heavy industrial dust in Jeddah?

We select units with a protection rating suited to the industrial environment and route airflow away from dust sources where the layout allows. In scheduled maintenance we inspect and clean coils, compressors and filters before deposits build up and affect unit performance.

Do you fabricate the large ducts a factory needs?

Yes, in our own workshop we fabricate round and rectangular duct to any size the design calls for, from G90 galvanised or aluminium sheet to SMACNA standards, including plenums, transitions and dampers needed to control air distribution.

Can you do maintenance between production shifts?

Yes, when we set up the preventive maintenance contract we agree times that fit your production schedule, whether between shifts or on rest days. The aim is that production lines are never stopped because of maintenance work.

What is the difference between process ventilation and worker-zone air conditioning?

Process ventilation targets heat and fumes produced by machinery and production lines, using exhaust fans and calculated fresh-air inlets sized to the heat load at each source. Worker-zone air conditioning aims to maintain a tolerable temperature at floor level without cooling the full volume of the building. A site survey of each factory decides which approach fits each area.

My workshop is next to homes, how do I ensure the AC doesn't disturb neighbours?

We select low-noise units, insulate pipes with sound dampening, and position the outdoor unit away from residential windows.

These are old buildings with standard ceilings, will factory-grade cooling fit them?

Yes, we size the system to the workshop's footprint and actual heat generation. Not every shop needs heavy-duty kit; often a medium central unit with proper ductwork is sufficient.

Streets here are extremely narrow, how do you get heavy equipment to the site?

We identify the closest loading point and carry equipment in by hand or use small hand-lifting tools, coordinating in advance with neighbours.

Humidity and mould appear quickly in the old workshop, does AC help with that?

Yes, the AC system reduces humidity and controls condensation, but drainage must be effective and routed away from older structures to prevent seepage.
