When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Hospitals in Al Rahmah are very modern buildings in a rapidly developing district with high construction standards and forward-looking planning for expansion. Extreme heat and high humidity south of Jeddah demand exceptional cooling and very high dehumidification capacity. Modern buildings have good thermal insulation but summer pressure on the system can be severe. Independent cooling branches for theatres, intensive care and labs are essential. Our maintenance focuses on compressors, heat exchangers, digital controls and readiness for future expansion.

Al Rahmah is a rapidly developing district in south Jeddah with very modern medical buildings and multiple residential areas.

Al Rahmah hospitals need exceptionally high-capacity cooling systems with large outdoor units on independent pads and scalable for future growth.

The AC setup in Al Rahmah

  1. 1

    Exceptionally high-capacity centralised system

Al Rahmah demands exceptionally high-capacity equipment due to extreme heat and humidity, with powerful compressors and very large outdoor units.

  2. 2

Completely separate branches per sensitive department

Operating theatres, intensive care and labs need completely separate branches with dedicated monitors for each to ensure precision and independence.

  3. 3

    Very strong independent dehumidification

Very high humidity in Al Rahmah requires very strong independent dehumidification units separate from the main cooling system for precise control.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rahmah

  1. 1

Review the future expansion plan with us

Share the hospital's multi-year plan so we align current system design with expected expansion and growth.

  2. 2

Confirm foundations can handle very heavy loads

Very large outdoor units need very strong concrete foundations; confirm the site and structural engineering can handle the heavy loads.

  3. 3

Prepare a very intensive summer maintenance schedule

Agree on a very intensive summer schedule (filter cleaning every 3 days, compressor checks weekly) before the hot season begins.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

Heat and humidity in Al Rahmah are more intense than elsewhere in the south, how do you handle them?

We select equipment 30 to 40 per cent above standard capacity and arrange very strong independent dehumidification with precise digital monitoring to prevent compressor overload.

The hospital is very new and the district is expanding, is the system easily scalable?

Yes, we design with generous spare space in ducts, electrical runs and concrete pads to allow adding new outdoor units without disrupting current service.

Do operating theatres and labs need completely separate branches?

Yes, we run completely separate branches with independent thermostats for each and dedicated monitors to ensure absolute precision and isolation from each other.

How often do such large systems need comprehensive maintenance?

We recommend monthly maintenance to check compressor, heat exchanger and filters, weekly filter cleaning in summer, and comprehensive digital checks every three months.
