Retail cooling without downtime
Mall & retail HVAC in Al Harazat
In Al Harazat, East Jeddah, mall and retail HVAC faces a daily challenge from doors opening to intense heat and fluctuating footfall. Alrabih designs systems that adapt to shifting thermal loads and keep moisture away from goods.

When you need a retail HVAC specialist
- 1
A new mall or shopping centre
A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.
- 2
An existing shop with uneven cooling
The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.
- 3
Condensate dripping on shelves or display
A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.
Who it's for
Opening a new shop inside a mall
We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.
Ask on WhatsAppManaging an existing commercial complex
We review the existing system and set a preventive and corrective maintenance contract scheduled outside trading hours so tenants are not affected.

- Ductwork from our workshop
- Maintenance contracts off peak
How we work
How we work
- 1
Site survey and loads
We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.
- 2
Design and materials
We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.
- 3
Installation coordinated on site
We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.
- 4
Start-up and maintenance contract
We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.
Designed for the space or just fitted?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| Air distribution | Load study per zone | One unit for the whole space |
| Ductwork | G90 sheet, sized for the job | Off-the-shelf wrong size |
| Condensate | Dedicated line away from stock | Risk of drips on shelves |
| Maintenance | Scheduled outside shop hours | Surprise outage during trade |
| Copper purity | Mueller copper, 99% pure, no welds | Unspecified pipe source |

What sets this district apart
Al Harazat is a growing commercial zone with modern and mid-sized malls and retail units of varied architectural design. Each mall has wide glass facades and multiple revolving doors, meaning substantial heat gain especially at peak hours. Central and multi-head split systems here need precise balance between rapid cooling and avoiding condensation on facades and displays, and their maintenance is done in early morning hours or after close to avoid service disruption during trading.
Al Harazat sits in East Jeddah, an expanding commercial district with modern malls, glass facades and revolving-door entries.
Most large malls and retail stores here rely on central or multi-head split systems to cover wide areas and achieve uniform temperature control.
The AC setup in Al Harazat
- 1
Central system with ductwork
Larger Al Harazat malls typically use a central system with ductwork to serve multiple floors and sections with uniform efficiency.
- 2
Multi-head split for independent retail units
Independent shops and storage areas in the zone rely on multi-head splits for mid-sized spaces without the need for complex ductwork.
- 3
Separate units for high-load zones
Main entrances and central foyers in malls need extra cooling units to absorb the heavy thermal load from doors and glazing.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Harazat
- 1
Notify mall management of the visit time
The visit must be scheduled directly with mall management to coordinate the team's access and ensure no clash with trading hours or indoor events.
- 2
Confirm access to outdoor and rooftop units
Outdoor units are often on the roof or rear of the mall, so confirm safe access and the ability to hoist and lower heavy equipment.
- 3
Prepare details on zone distribution and load areas
Gather details on any zones with excessive cooling or warmth, and where main shops and departments are located, to prioritize maintenance and tuning.

FAQ
Questions about Mall & retail HVAC
How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?
An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.
Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?
Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.
Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?
A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.
How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?
Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.
Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?
The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.
How do you handle the heat from revolving doors and glass facades?
We position extra cooling zones near main entrances and use smart controls to track thermal shifts throughout the day, reducing the load where needed.
Our mall runs from morning to late evening, when can you service the AC?
We work outside the mall's normal trading hours, in early morning or after close, and schedule a fixed plan that suits your operations.
Water collects on the glass facades, is that from the AC?
Condensation on glass facades occurs where cool AC air meets solar heat and outdoor humidity, which we solve by tuning temperature and humidity settings and improving airflow near the facades.
Does the central AC unit need its own dedicated power circuit?
Yes, central systems and heavy-duty compressors need their own dedicated circuit and adequate capacity, which we verify at the mall's main electrical panel before installation.
