When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Kawthar is a relatively new east Jeddah neighbourhood with a spacious city plan, separate residential and commercial projects with reasonable gaps between them. Shops and shopping centres here are built to modern standards with high ceilings and solid foundations, roofs easily accessible without constraints. This allows for efficient central HVAC or large split units without space limits. Heat exposure is moderate and dust lighter than crowded zones, allowing longer maintenance intervals.

Al Kawthar sits in east Jeddah, a modern neighbourhood with a spacious separate-plot layout and large modern shopping centres and retail complexes.

Large retail centres here run advanced central HVAC systems or multiple large split units because of spacious floor plates and high ceilings.

The AC setup in Al Kawthar

  1. 1

Central system with multiple control zones

Large Al Kawthar shopping centres use a single central system with separate control zones for smart energy and comfort management.

  2. 2

Large split and ceiling units for big individual shops

Some very large shops within the centre may have their own large split or ceiling system, independent from the main central plant.

  3. 3

    Concealed ducts in suspended ceilings

High suspended ceilings accommodate concealed air ducts elegantly and efficiently, improving the interior appearance.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Kawthar

  1. 1

Map zones and identify each zone's requirements

Identify different zones (shops, food court, services) and confirm each zone's cooling requirements before design begins.

  2. 2

    Confirm main electrical supply capacity

Check that main electrical supply to the centre can handle the large HVAC system's power demands without overload.

  3. 3

Confirm roof access and installation feasibility

Confirm the roof is safe, can handle large outdoor units, and has a clear path for piping and cabling.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

The shopping centre is very large, will one central system suffice or do we need multiple systems?

For very large centres, we design one central system with separate control zones allowing different areas to cool as needed, maximizing energy efficiency.

The shopping centre has very high ceilings, does this affect cooling efficiency?

High ceilings need greater cooling power to cover the larger air volume. We choose units with ample capacity and may use ceiling fans to distribute air evenly.

The centre has many shops, can we control HVAC separately for each tenant?

Yes, we design a central system with separate thermostats and dampers per zone or shop, letting each tenant control their temperature within reasonable bounds.

Roof access is easy here, does that benefit the system design?

Yes, absolutely. Easy access allows us to install large outdoor units and advanced cooling systems without constraints, and makes routine maintenance straightforward.
