When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Khaleej is a typical northern district balancing medium-rise blocks, smaller villas and commercial shops with regular streets and reasonable parking. Window frames here vary between iron and aluminium, and installation requires careful dust sealing because the intense heat and dry winds cause heavy dust buildup. The spacing between buildings is sensible, so the team can reach units without difficulty.

Al Khaleej sits in central North Jeddah, a balanced district of residential blocks and shops with regular streets and fairly open squares.

Most window units here fit into medium-sized iron or aluminium frames because of the district's conventional building designs, with no oversized windows.

The AC setup in Al Khaleej

  1. 1

    Medium iron-framed windows

Most flats and shops in Al Khaleej have sturdy iron-framed windows that provide solid mounting for window units.

  2. 2

Modern aluminium windows in newer blocks

Newer blocks in Al Khaleej are shifting to lighter aluminium frames that are easier to install and maintain.

  3. 3

Practical flat layouts with one or two main windows

Typical Al Khaleej flats have one or two main windows, so a single window unit is usually enough.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Khaleej

  1. 1

Confirm the window frame and sill are sturdy

Before the visit, check that the window frame and sill are crack-free and strong enough to hold the unit safely.

  2. 2

Identify drainage location and outdoor clearance

Make sure the external window side is clear and safe for water to drain directly downward without obstruction.

  3. 3

Tell us about existing paint and seals

Tell the team if there is thick paint or old sealant around the window, so they can prepare the surface properly before work begins.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Dust and heat leak around my window frame, how do you seal it?

We use high-grade sealants around all gaps in the unit, plus foam weatherstripping to keep dust and hot air out.

My window frame is old iron, will it support a window unit?

We inspect the iron frame and its fasteners first, and if it is weak we add extra metal supports to carry the unit's weight safely.

Dry heat and wind make my unit dusty fast, is that normal in Al Khaleej?

Yes, the dry winds and intense heat in Al Khaleej speed up dust buildup around window units, which is why airtight sealing is critical.

My wiring inside the wall is old, will installation require changes?

Window unit installation normally does not require wall wiring changes, but we check that the outlet is safe and rated for the unit's current.
