When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Shiraa mixes residential apartment blocks with traditional villas, and most windows have varying frame heights and structural strength. Installation here needs close inspection of the wooden or metal frame and confirmation it sits level, because older foundations may settle unevenly. Tight sealing is essential because the area sits near the coast and faces heavy moisture, salt spray and dust accumulation on the windows.

Al Shiraa lies in north Jeddah, a mixed residential zone of apartment blocks and villas close to the coast.

Most Al Shiraa windows have wooden or aluminium frames in varying heights, and window AC installation needs a frame strong enough to carry the unit's weight.

The AC setup in Al Shiraa

  1. 1

Traditional villa windows with wooden frames

Many older villas in Al Shiraa still have wooden window frames, and installation requires inspecting the wood and confirming it is not compromised by moisture beforehand.

  2. 2

    Apartment windows with aluminium frames

The apartment blocks here typically have aluminium windows, which provide more strength for heavier window AC units.

  3. 3

Windows exposed directly to coastal winds

Al Shiraa's coastal location means windows face strong winds, so tight sealing and secure mounting are essential to prevent unit vibration.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shiraa

  1. 1

Confirm the window frame is solid

Before the visit, make sure the window frame has no cracks or warping that would prevent it from safely carrying the unit.

  2. 2

Let us know if the floor sits unevenly

If your floor is uneven or the window frame is tilted, let us know in advance so we can bring what we need to correct the level before mounting.

  3. 3

Ensure the outside of the window is accessible

Check that we can safely reach the outside of the window, whether from a balcony or external stairs, before the visit day.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

My window frame is old and uneven, can you still install the unit?

We inspect the frame carefully and adjust its level if needed before mounting, ensuring it is strong enough to safely carry the unit's weight.

My house is right near the beach, does salt spray affect the installation?

Yes, salt and moisture build up on coastal windows, so we use strong sealing materials around the unit to protect your inside walls from water and salt penetration.

Dust enters through gaps around my window, how do you ensure complete sealing?

We fill every gap around the unit with tight sealing material and caulk all cracks with waterproof, airtight sealant against dust.

How do you ensure water does not leak into my home from the installed unit?

We tilt the unit very slightly outward so condensate runs out, not down your wall, and we clear and properly direct the drainage hole before we finish.
