When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

North Corniche holds modern villas and tall residential blocks with direct sea views, and their outer windows face high salinity and accelerated metal corrosion. Installation here needs salt-resistant and moisture-proof seals instead of standard ones, and the drainage tilt must be precise to stop moisture seeping into interior walls in the coastal zone. The strong side wind from the sea also means the unit must be fitted with extra bracing.

North Corniche sits on Jeddah's western coastline, a district of modern blocks and luxury villas with direct Gulf views.

Most window units here fit into large aluminium and glass frames because of the modern architecture and open designs of the seafront buildings.

The AC setup in North Corniche

  1. 1

Large aluminium window frames in villas and blocks

Most of the modern villas and blocks on the Corniche have large aluminium windows with plenty of space for a window AC unit.

  2. 2

    High-set windows with sturdy frames

Windows in the tall blocks are usually set high and have robust frames to withstand loads and wind, which makes safe mounting straightforward.

  3. 3

    Open layouts needing coordinated cooling

Flats and villas with open layouts may need more than one window unit to spread cooling evenly.

Before the visit

Before our visit in North Corniche

  1. 1

Check the window frame and sill are sound

Before the visit, confirm the window frame and sill are free of cracks or salt damage, since these affect mounting strength.

  2. 2

Identify where drainage water will exit

Check that the external window side is clear and safe for drainage, with nothing blocking water from flowing freely outward.

  3. 3

Tell us about paint and sealing around the window

Tell the team if there is old paint or cracked sealant around the frame, so they can prepare the surface and clear any obstacles before installation.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Salt air corrodes my window unit's frame, how do you protect it?

We use salt-resistant and moisture-proof sealants and compounds when mounting, and ensure there are no gaps around the unit that would let salt spray penetrate.

My large aluminium window frame, can it hold a window unit safely?

We inspect the frame and sill first, and if needed we add extra metal brackets to distribute the unit's weight safely across the window.

Sea moisture seeps through my walls, will proper installation stop it?

Proper installation includes clear outward drainage tilt and complete sealing around the unit, but wall seepage from deeper moisture requires separate waterproofing that falls outside the mounting itself.

Strong coastal winds shake my unit, how do you brace it more firmly?

We use extra metal brackets and heavy-duty fasteners when fitting units on the Corniche to resist the strong side winds coming off the sea.
