When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Rabwah is a medium-density residential district with multi-storey flats and some older villas, and many residents choose window units for their lower cost and easy installation. These units work hard through Jeddah's long summer and collect dust and coastal humidity quickly. Cleaning the coil, checking drainage and ensuring proper tilt can stop leaks and noise before repair costs spiral.

Al Rabwah sits in central Jeddah's urban heart, a mixed residential district blending apartment blocks with older homes.

Window AC units are very common in Al Rabwah flats, typically mounted directly in bedroom or living-room windows.

The AC setup in Al Rabwah

  1. 1

One window unit per main room

Most Al Rabwah flats have one unit mounted in a bedroom or living-room window, and some add a second unit in another room.

  2. 2

Older window units still in operation

Many Al Rabwah flats keep older window units for years and need regular maintenance to avoid leaks and noise.

  3. 3

Drainage issues from humidity and dust

Slow or blocked drainage is the most common issue in Al Rabwah window units because of coastal humidity and dust buildup.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rabwah

  1. 1

Clear the window of hanging items

Make sure the window is clear of curtains and hanging items so the team can access the unit easily.

  2. 2

Confirm a nearby power socket is available

Check that there is a safe, adequately-rated power socket near the window if we need to rewire it.

  3. 3

Locate any outdoor unit if one exists

Some window units have a small external fan; make sure it (if present) is easy to access and clean if needed.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips water onto the floor, is it the coil or the drainage?

Usually the drain is blocked by dust and coastal dampness, or the unit was not tilted correctly outward. We check it, clear the drain and adjust the tilt, and in most cases the dripping stops.

My flat is small and the window frame is tight, can you fit a new unit without widening the opening?

It depends on the unit size and available space. We visit first to check the opening and frame, then advise what fits.

My unit clicks and rattles, is that the compressor or something we can fix?

It could be dust in the blower, a weak capacitor or loose mounting of the unit itself. We thoroughly inspect it and pinpoint the issue before advising whether repair or replacement makes sense.

High humidity in summer makes my unit run constantly, is that normal for Al Rabwah?

Jeddah is close to the sea and coastal humidity is very high in summer, so the unit works harder to cool damp air. Keeping the coil, filter and drain clean helps the unit run more efficiently.
