When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Rabee is a mixed residential district with flats and small villas spaced wider apart than other north districts. Windows here vary in size because the buildings are diverse, and small villas may need fitting in older or smaller frames. Installation requires careful checking of frame strength and soundness, especially in villas, and very firm gap sealing around the unit because the temperature gap between inside and outside is large. The frame must tilt slightly outward so condensate drains away from inside walls and foundations.

Al Rabee lies in north Jeddah, a mixed residential district with flats and small villas set in wider spaces.

Windows here vary in size and age, with frames ranging from modern aluminium to older metal in some small villas.

The AC setup in Al Rabee

  1. 1

Window in a living-room or corridor wall

In small villas and flats, the best location is windows in interior walls for better cooling distribution.

  2. 2

    Frames in varying conditions

Window frames here are modern in some villas and older in others, requiring thorough inspection before installation.

  3. 3

Electrical line from the main board

Safe power for the unit runs from a dedicated circuit in the main board, and confirming electrical capacity is especially important in older villas.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rabee

  1. 1

Check the window and frame strength

Ensure the frame is sound and strong before the visit, especially in older villas, and tell us if you notice any cracks or weakness.

  2. 2

Confirm access for the team and equipment

In villas, check that the path from entry to the window is safe and wide enough for the team and unit, and tell us of any obstacles.

  3. 3

    Check your circuit board

Review the board before you call us to identify the right circuit, ensure its capacity handles the new unit's load.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Do the small villas in Al Rabee have windows strong enough for a window AC?

It depends on the villa's age and frame condition. We recommend letting our team inspect the window and frame before you buy or install.

Can you fit a window AC in an older villa?

Yes, but it needs close inspection of the window and frame, and we may need extra bracing if frame strength is poor. We visit first to assess the situation.

Does humidity, sand and salt affect the installation in Al Rabee?

Yes, salty air and dust penetrate quickly, so we seal gaps very firmly and use strong moisture barriers around the unit.

Does a small villa's wiring support a window AC?

It depends on the unit size and wiring age. We recommend checking your circuit board before the visit, and we verify safe connection and load during installation.
